Buff Industrial Design was launched in 2007 by an enthusiastic industrial designer named Lloyd Pennington. Lloyd has spent the duration of his working life so far in the industry. Since he launched his first business in 1999 he has worked for a string of high profile blue chip companies in aerospace, automotive, medical and consumer goods industries on products that have sold in their millions. His expertise are invaluable.
The seeds for his success were sewn early. Lloyd grew up in an engineering environment and spent his childhood in his father's workshop. As a result he could convert fractions into decimal and inches into metric before he could write his own name.
It was the start of something big. By age 7, Lloyd was developing design concepts for cars with anti-lock brakes, automatic windscreen wipers and headlights. And at 13 he built a lathe as part of a City & Guilds engineering project. After school Lloyd completed a successful 4 year apprenticeship as a toolmaker before moving into a sales position where he developed his understanding of commerce. He then read Mechanical Engineering at The Bolton Institute before starting his own business.
